IGNITE
STUDIOS
Your book is the beginning of something bigger.
You finished the book. Now you have a pub date, a publicity team at your publisher that’s stretched across dozens of other titles, and a list of things you're supposed to be doing all at once: pitching media, growing a Substack, planning events, and fixing your website.
Ignite Studios turns that chaos into a strategy. Together we build the world around your book, so it becomes a launch pad for your larger story.
Ignite Studios is for you if:
Your book is finished and has a pub date, ideally 6–12 months out
You see your book as the start of something: a platform, a practice, a movement, a next book
You're overwhelmed by the moving parts of a launch and want one strategic partner to lead it
You're ready to show up: to write, pitch, post, and speak
It's not the right fit if your book is still being written (see Ignite Writers Collective →) or your launch is less than 8 weeks away.
What We Build Together
-
Your story angles, talking points, and a targeted pitch list of outlets, podcasts, and editors, plus companion essays that put your ideas in front of the readers who need them.
-
A content strategy that sounds like you and builds an audience that lasts beyond launch week, including how to use your Substack to grow a readership of your own.
-
Where to show up, who to partner with, and how to turn events, panels, and conversations into momentum and not just calendar entries.
-
Making sure everything a reader, producer, or editor finds when they Google you tells the same story your book does.
HOW IT WORKS
Three phases. One strategy. Built around your pub date.
❋ Phase 1 — Investigate
We dig into your book, your audience, and your larger story. You leave with your core message, your media angles, and a launch roadmap.
We build the assets: pitch list and pitches, essays, talking points, content plan, event strategy, and website and brand updates.
❋ Phase 2 — Illuminate
Your launch goes live. Depending on your package, my team handles the pitching and outreach for you, or you lead it with me guiding every step. Either way, we adjust together as responses come in.
❋ Phase 3 — Ignite
Many authors work with me for six months or longer, starting well before pub date and continuing through launch.
Case Study
Helen Krug von Nidda, Closing the Fulfillment Gap (September 2026, Simon & Schuster)
From a self-publishing plan to a book deal: When Helen first came to me in August 2022, she was planning to self-publish. I saw potential for something bigger. Together, we shaped and drafted her book proposal and built her agent strategy, and she signed with Jane von Mehren and Donya Dickerson at Aevitas Creative Management. After she sold the book, I worked with her on the manuscript. Six months before publication, we built her launch and marketing plan to create buzz and reach readers far beyond her network.
What we built together:
Her core talking points and message for interviews
A targeted podcast and media list with an outreach strategy
A Substack outreach plan to reach new readers
Draft essays to pitch to outlets
Interview prep for TV, radio, and podcasts so she was ready for every conversation
Social media strategy built around the book’s themes
A plan of action for leveraging existing contacts/network for bulk buys, events, media coverage, and intimate salon-style events
The Results:
Closing The Fulfillment Gap was featured on NBC News Daily and Katie Couric Media, among newsletters, LinkedIn lives, podcasts, and a book tour with over 10 stops.
“Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
Why work with me
I've been on every side of a book launch.
As an author, I launched The Mother Code with interviews, essays, and excerpts in NPR, the Guardian, Time, The Wall Street Journal, Oprah Daily, and Fortune, and the book was named one of Elle's Best Books of the Year.
As an editor, including as deputy editor of ForbesWomen, I sat on the receiving end of thousands of pitches. I know which ones get opened, and why.
As a coach, I’ve spent seven years guiding authors from first draft to agent to Big 5 deal. Ignite Studios is where all of that comes together.
Ignite Studios engagements run a minimum of three months and come in two forms:
Strategy & Accountability. I build the plan with you and keep you on track while you carry it out.
Full Launch. I build the plan, and my team handles the pitching, outreach, and follow-up.
Every engagement is tailored to your book and your pub date. Apply to learn more about pricing.
Investment
Not ready for the full partnership?
Launch Strategy Session — $500. One focused session to map your launch priorities and media angles. Credited toward an Ignite Studios engagement if you sign on within 30 days.
Essay Pitching Package — $1,500 per essay. I help shape your essay, research the right outlets and editors, and write the pitch.
-
Ideally 6–12 months before your pub date. Long-lead media (magazines, some podcasts, major outlets) books months in advance.
-
Publisher publicity teams are often excellent and almost always stretched thin across many titles. Ignite Studios works alongside your publicist, filling the gaps and building the platform that outlasts your launch window.
-
It depends on your package. With Strategy & Accountability, you do the outreach and I shape every pitch before it goes out. With Full Launch, my team handles pitching, outreach, and follow-up for you. In both, your essays and posts are written by you, so they sound like you. I help you shape and sharpen them.
