This mentorship is for you if you have an idea for a book, or even have started your first draft, but have no idea where to begin the process of writing and selling your book.

MODULE 1 – Week 1

Why you? Why now?

 In our introductory session, we’ll get clear on the idea that’s unique to you and brainstorm why you’re the person to write this book and now is the time to write it. 

MODULE 2 – Week 1

Test Driving Your Idea

How do you figure out if your book idea is a good one? How do you know if the book you want to write has already been written? What books do you want your book to be in conversation with? In this session we’ll do exercises that will help answer these questions and so many more.  

MODULE 3 – Week 2

If You Build It, Will They Come?

In an ideal world, you write the perfect book. But who is going to read it? And how will it change their life? Given all the noise bombarding each of us in this day and age, why would someone spend $30 on your book? What pain point will you solve for them? Where will you find them? Most importantly, how will you start speaking to them now?

In this session, will explore the different types of publishers and where you see yourself in the publishing landscape. We’ll talk about your goals, your timeline and how to know what’s the best fit.

Book Proposal 101

In this session, you’ll learn about the most important part of the proposal, the secrets to getting noticed and why your title matters. We’ll go through each section of the proposal step by step and do exercises that will jumpstart your thinking along the way.

In this session, we’ll discuss why a query letter matters, what agents are looking for and how to amplify your expertise even if you don’t have a huge platform. We’ll also explore what to look for in an agent and why. Plus, how an agent can make or break your writing career.

Sharpen Your Elevator Pitch

 In this session, we’ll go through a series of exercises to ensure your idea stands out and make it clear why you’re the only one who could write this book. You’ll fine tune your idea, poke holes in it to make sure it’s ready for prime time and practice, practice, practice.

MODULE 8 – Week 6

 Pitch Party

In this session you’ll have the chance to pitch your book idea to a top-tier agent who’s looking for books like yours. Not only that, but you’ll get feedback on your idea so that you can revise it before you send out your query letters. And you’ll have the chance to ask all your burning questions.
